William H. Davidson
Chairman

Picture
Dr. William H. Davidson, known as Bill, serves as the Chairman of AGCG. He was a tenured professor at the Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California, from 1985 to 1998. During the 1985-1995 decade, the Journal of International Business Studies recognized him as the most widely cited academic in international management. In 1992, his co-authored book, 2020 Vision (with Stan Davis), was awarded Best Business Book of the Year by Fortune Magazine. Bill is the author of seven additional management books, including The Amazing Race, and his latest work, Breakthrough, was published by John Wiley Press in 2004. He is currently finalizing a new book titled Great China with Dumas Ting.

In the early 1980s, Bill was a founding faculty member at the first US-China Joint Management Development Institute established in Dalian, where he collaborated with senior Chinese officials to design modernization programs. He co-founded Kokusai Daigaku, a joint US-Japanese program for global executive development in Niigata Prefecture, and more recently became a founding member of the School of Inspired Leadership in Delhi, India, which operates on a triple bottom line model.

In 1984, Bill founded MESA Inc., a management consulting firm that was acquired by Deloitte & Touche in 1996, serving more than half of the US Fortune 100 and various global corporations. As a national partner at Deloitte, he led the telecom and media management consulting practice from 1996 to 1998, dramatically expanding the practice during his tenure.

Bill is a partner in three venture funds and has participated in several venture companies, including his first startup, PairGain, a DSL technology developer, as well as Autogenomics and Trendpoint. Autogenomics is a leader in molecular diagnostics technology, slated for an IPO on Nasdaq, while Trendpoint is establishing itself as the industry standard for data center energy management solutions. He has served on six public company boards and numerous private boards, previously acting as the lead investor for Broadcast Technology, Castle Arch Real Estate Corporation, and AquaHydrate, among others.

In addition to his investment activities, Bill is actively involved in global executive development. His company, Management Education Services Associates, provides leadership development services to prominent firms such as ExxonMobil, Suez, Schneider, and Mahindra & Mahindra. He holds an AB in Economics, an MBA, and a Doctorate in Business Administration, all from Harvard University.

Residing in Palm Springs, California, Bill enjoys outdoor activities such as surfing, golfing, and skiing. He also plays on an adult ice hockey team with his oldest son

Martin Doan
Founder & Managing Partner

Picture
Martin is a serial entrepreneur, avid investor, and merchant banker. With a focus on the U.S. and emerging Asian markets, he diligently identifies, structures, and executes business opportunities to yield the highest possible returns for his partners and investors

As the founder of AGCG, Martin has established a clear mission: to bridge the gap between growing businesses in the Asia-Pacific region and the global capital markets. He actively sources and engages in cross-border private equity and M&A transactions, as well as Private Investments in Public Equities (PIPE) deals across virtually all sectors in the region. For early-stage private or public companies in the U.S. with innovative products and technologies, Martin assists in positioning them before global investors and expanding their market presence in Asia. To date, Martin and his partners have structured, deployed, and advised on over $2 billion for companies in the U.S., China, Korea, and Vietnam.

In Vietnam, Martin pioneered several PIPE structures and executions for alternative investment products worth over $500 million, involving leveraged buyouts, equities, debts, and convertible structures for VN30 and micro-cap companies. His investment products have successfully generated double-digit returns for investors since 2015. Most notably, in 2016 and 2017, he executed two cross-border transactions for a Vietnamese company to acquire a Hong Kong-based electronics firm through an unprecedented stock swap scheme. He subsequently facilitated an all-cash acquisition of a Seoul-based electronics company for the same client.

In 2019, Martin launched a real estate financing initiative with institutional partners that focuses on REITs, special situations, and alternative credit investments in large-scale multifamily and office building projects across the U.S. and Southeast Asia. In 2023, he expanded his portfolio by launching a $150 million family office dedicated to alternative and private credit investing.

Currently, he serves as the Chairman of TY Capital Management and Msquare Holdings—both Singapore-based family offices concentrating on macro strategies and private markets. Martin is an active Board/Investment Committee member of TD Capital, a Vietnam SSC-licensed and regulated private equity fund, and serves as a General Partner for several private and alternative investment firms focused on distressed assets, special situations, and structured financing in the Asia-Pacific markets. Additionally, he holds various board and strategic directorships in sectors including real estate development, non-ferrous metal mining, consumer electronics (Ansen Electronics Company and Hanbits Electronics), global strategic management (Mesa Research Group), and numerous tech startups.

Before transitioning to active investing in the U.S. and the Asia-Pacific region, Martin spent time in academia as a research scientist and lecturer at Columbia University, publishing extensive studies in cancer epidemiology. He also served as an adjunct professor at the City University of New York. Martin received his PhD training in Psychology and quantitative modeling from CUNY and holds a BA in Psychology and Religious Studies from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois.

Residing in New York City, Martin frequently travels to Southeast Asia. In his leisure time, he enjoys writing songs with a grungy and jazzy rock feel and is an avid golfer.
